It seems to be the big talk all over the wellness world as the miracle cure to balance your life, be happy and healthy. But what does it all mean and how can I add it into my already jam packed lifestyle?
Let's begin by asking...what is meditation? Why should I start it and how would it benefit my life?
What is meditation? Simply put meditation is just breathing. Being conscious of your breathe and mindful of your thoughts. It can help start your day off in a more positive way and calm your nerves.
It is defined as sitting quietly, clearing the mind and/or being deep in thought.
How do I start? It's easy to start, you just need you, your breathe and a few minutes. Some people set aside time each morning to practice this art, while others simply meditate on their commute to work or while washing the dishes. However you decide to fit it into your life it can be so helpful.

Recently I started practicing meditation each morning for five minutes. I pause, sit quietly, read or listen to a meditation online and say some postive affirmations to myself. I also use this as a journaling time, putting on paper what I'm thinking about and how I feel. It really is a little bonus quiet time I give to myself each morning and a very gentle way to wake up. And when I don't make time to actually sit, I do this while I'm making the bed or in the shower in the morning. Just simply becoming more aware of my breathing and my thoughts. Easy, right.
This time allows me to set clear intentions and set my day up for success. It also opens up space to remind myself to be grateful for all that I have and to remember all those blessings throughout the week. Gratitude always helps keep things in perspective.
If you're interested in starting your own meditation practice, go for it. Carve out a few moments each day and start seeing the benefits daily. You can start by just lighting a candle and saying some 'I am' statements or check out these websites for morning meditations.
