I recently had a good friend of mine tell me that life is like being on a sailboat. You have to hold on, ride things out and use the earthly power of the wind to stay on course. Moving through many ups and downs.
Although I have not been on a sailboat....it's something I'd love to experience someday, as I love being in and on the water.
This idea of sailing through the 'waves of life' captures a more gentle way to travel. A 'go with the flow' attitude. Something I've been needing more of lately as lots of changes are taking place. Some I'll be sharing here soon and some that are in the works. All beautiful things...but stressful at times to accomplish and move through.
As we all go through life we face challenges, joys and struggles. We learn, grow and become grateful for the simple things and peaceful moments we share with friends and loved ones.
I remember as I was caring for my Dad towards the end of his life, I embraced the simple pleasures of being near him. Sharing coffee and a muffin or straightening up his room at the nursing home. As hard as it was to see him slipping away, I found strength in making the most of our time together. Being present and honoring the moment. Simply holding his hand was a gift.
Today I wish for you all to honor where you are today. Be grateful for all the good and ride each wave of life. The good, the bad and everything in between. Life goes so quickly...so hold on and enjoy the ride.
