This special carrot 'cake in the grass' was made with love for my sweet nephew's ninth birthday.
After we ate most of it, remembering to save a slice to photograph. I grabbed my camera and in a new white shirt, down I went on my belly, surrounded by all the littles (my other niece and nephews) and took multiple shots of this beauty.
To me there is so much more in this picture than just a sunny, moist homemade (freakin' delicious) vegan cake. I look at it with love and remember smiling faces, laughter and love. That day we made lasting memories. We rode bikes, colored with sidewalk chalk and ate cake. Yes, it also included a long drive to my brother's house, but the reward is to spend time with family. Well worth all the the effort to see people that I love.
So as our life speeds up and weeks turn into months, remember to honor the people in your life and be with the ones you love. Make it happen. No need to make a cake, although I recommend always arriving with something sweet. It makes people smile. Just be there. Make it simple and fun.
Here are some ideas to remember this week to honor yourself and those close to you.
Take aways for a healthy week.
