As most of you know I'm a huge podcast listener. While working out, doing laundry or driving in the car I try to use that time to fill my head with knowledge and interesting conversations. Recently while listening to a former Navy Seal, Mark Devine of Seal Fit the other day he said something that stuck.
'Working out and working in.'
When you work out, and take care of your physical body, you also need to be working in. Meaning working on yourself, your relationship with YOU and being a better, more balanced mentally, healthy individual. Something we all strive to do, but is not always easy to connect with.
So while we are beginning a new spring season, let's begin to shift our focus inward and develop healthy habits around caring for ourselves from the inside out.
Maybe that looks like starting a journal for five minutes a day. Or reading something challenging. Mending a relationship that needs your attention. Or learning a new skill. Whatever speaks to you and helps you become a better version of yourself, while also caring for your physical body.
As human beings our body and mind work together. So let's sharpen both at the same time and check in to see the results. From my experience, it has made me a happier individual. Someone who is more calm and curious about life. Able to deal with many issues, good and bad in a more level headed way. We've all experienced that person on the road with crazy road rage. Can you guess how he/she is caring for his body, mind and spirit?
So this week while you're drinking your green juice, eating your healthy salads, make time to also check in with yourself and see how you feel. Reach outside your comfort zone, ask those tough questions and look inward. A healthy mind makes for a healthy body.
