Are you relaxing and catching up on some well deserved sleep? Or are you back to the old grind of work, laundry and dishes? (those dishes never stop, right? I have a love-hate relationship with my kitchen sink)
This time of year is always a blend of reflection, rest and recovery. I always find myself exhausted from a month full of celebrations, shopping, cooking and wrapping. And my body is saying stop. Slow down. And rest. Read a book.
To be completely honest slowing down is a challenge for me. I always like to be doing, going and active. Forcing myself to be out of a routine and clearing my calender can make me anxious. However, when I do take time to slow down it allows me to truly rest, create and clear my head. So my head understands the benefits,,,,but my body has a hard time putting on the brakes. Does that make sense? I hope some of you can relate.
Now that I'm a few days into rest mode I'm getting cozy. I'm sporting my favorite comfy sweater and sweat pants, I could probably stand to wash my hair and my holiday tea mug is never too far from my fingertips. Do you get the visual? Someone help me!
This time of year as hard as it is to stop...it's mentally healthy to check out and recharge. Especially after a stretch of crazy. The holidays can be a difficult time for many of us and even if you think you're handling them well you probably need time to reflect and regroup. Here are some tips to help us all.
5 Tips to Holiday Recovery & Slow Down Mode
embrace the time
surround yourself with people that lift you up
take a nap
don't judge yourself...you're human
move your body daily & eat something green (M&M's don't count)
Do you have a hard time slowing down? What are some ways you handle this season?
