Does winter have you frozen and depressed? If you're in the Northeast region of the US (like me) it's likely that you're frozen solid and ready for spring. Am I right? So today's snack will fill you up and make you feel better while keeping your brain/body happier with some healthy fats and fiber. Kick that depression to the curb and eat some nuts!
*Of course it's not wise to eat the entire bag in one sitting. You can easily heavy hand multiple servings of nuts and they are can add up quickly. So if your goal is to lose weight, just be aware of the serving size and portion control if possible.
Today I'm letting you in on my little secret for making these beauties taste even better and a few ways I incorporate them into my lifestyle. But no need to get fancy. They are perfect just the way nature intended. However, if you have 10 minutes try roasting them for more flavor and crunch. I usually toast nuts while I'm cooking dinner or if I have the oven on for something else. Multi-tasking cooking is the way to go.
Pecans are my nut of choice these days. What's yours?
My fool proof way to jack up the flavor.
TOAST them. Lightly toasting them brings the flavor up a notch and makes them taste so much better (in my opinion) from raw. And no added oil needed.
How to do it:
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Place nuts on a dry rimmed cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Watching carefully. Allow to cool and store in the fridge for freshness.
Use on EVERYTHING!
My favorite ways:
Small snacks on the go (especially after a workout)
Nut butters/topping on baked goods like muffins and pancakes
Wishing you all a wonderful week filled with healthy snacks, happy thoughts and sunshine on your face.
